  • Virtual Open Morning Launch

Tomorrow we start to release footage and films as part of the USH Virtual Open Morning experience for 2020.

Every day, over the next week, we will be releasing brand new films to share the USH experience with you.

Today, we encourage you to read the HEADTEACHER'S BLOG on the USH website, entitled ‘Virtual Open Morning 2020: Behind the scenes’

Check back into Facebook tomorrow, for the pre-recorded Headteacher’s Address.

Please pass this on to friends and family considering USH for their child in September 2021.

  • Afternoon Tea on US(H)

As you may remember at the end of the summer term we held a socially distanced, end of term fund raising event.

We were delighted to use the monies raised to buy afternoon tea for two local care homes.  These were delivered last week and as you can see from the photographs they were thrilled to receive it.

Thank you too Heidi from Cherry On The Cake for making up two fantastic afternoon tea gift boxes.

  • European Day of Languages

"The limits of my language are the limits of my universe" (Ludwig Wittgenstein)

We celebrated the European Day of Languages this week which like every year takes place on the 26th September. As the new Head of Languages, it was my job to record a video assembly to raise awareness of the importance of learning languages and how key languages are a tool to open doors to different experiences and opportunities. We looked at some quotes from Nelson Mandela and my favourite one from the philosopher Ludwig Wittgenstein. I feel really identified with this quote as I feel that learning languages have given me life opportunities that I could not have even dreamt about when I was growing as a young person in a small town in the North of Spain. I want all our learners at USH, all our community to have access to new ways of looking at the world so they become more open to others and their different ways of doing things. Learning Languages is about learning about other people's culture and become more tolerant and understanding of differences.  We also had the opportunity to do a Languages escape room during tutor time to learn more about different languages and traditions, I hope that was fun!

  • USH Houses - Which House Are You In?

We are excited to re-launch our four USH houses next week.

Our Heads of Houses are Mr O'Farrell for Aviators, Miss Way for Engineers, Mr Collins for Mariners and Miss Suffling for Venturers

On Monday they will be emailing all tutor groups to welcome them into their house and launching an exciting competition, or two.  Competition details will be displayed on the television screen in the Exhibition Hall and there are house display and information boards there too, so take a look when you next walk through.
