  • Year 11 GCSE Exams

The first week of the summer written exam season has been a successful one for the USH students. There has been a real buzz around the year group as they have focussed their efforts on English Literature, Computer Science, PE, Drama, French, Biology, Chemistry and Portuguese exams.

Well done to all of Year 11 this week – you have been a credit to the school and we look forward to continuing the exam successes over the coming weeks.

Mr Hall – Head of Year

  • Student Leadership Presentations

The Year 10s that have been shortlisted for the new student leadership team have been presenting ideas all week to the staff leadership team. There have been some fantastic presentations that have been well thought through and well rehearsed. The process will continue into next week and students will received letters regarding what role they have achieved before the end of this half term. If they are being put forward for Head boy/Head girl, they will have to run a campaign.

  • Cricket Season Begins with a Win

Congratulations to the mixed Year 9/10 cricket team who won their opening game of the season this week against the Greggs school. Batting first, Greggs scores 101-3 of their allotted overs which at school level is a pretty good score. In reply, USH batted sensibly at first before showing some excellent attacking intent in the latter overs to end up scoring 105-3 and therefore winning by 7 wickets with 2 overs to spare. Bowling successes came from Waris H who picked up 2 wickets and on the batting front, Jacob M (35) and Waris H (24 not out) batted excellently, ably supported by Luke N. Well done to all involved and we look forward to our next game against Cantell after half term.

    Mr Hall

  • Year 11 Footballers Finish with a Flourish!

Friday 10th May brought to the end the Year 11 football season, in a week where disappointment in the League cup final was fresh in their mind the players needed to re-focus for the Division 1 league title play off. Long standing rivals Wildern were the opposition at neutral ground St George school for an eagerly anticipated fixture. The game kicked off with USH displaying the sort of possession and composure that has become a feature of our play this year, though conceded from an early free kick. However, USH soon create their own opportunity with Ewan scoring 2 and Samuel poking home a cross before Ewan  delivered a stunning strike that the goalkeeper could only parry into his own goal. Half Time USH 4 Wildern 2.

Wildern started the second half at speed and were able to score a 3rd before a vital saved penalty by goalkeeper Ben prevented the score being levelled. USH, reverting to their quick 2 touch passing and movement rallied and goals from Reece, Ebenezar and a contender for goal of the season by Ollie sealed the well deserved victory for USH.

What a game to finish on! Well done boys!
