At Upper Shirley High, we continue to develop effective strategies to work with our students and families to achieve the highest level of attendance.
After a very successful series of Parent Workshops last year, Lorraine Lee will deliver a series of Workshops for USH Parents this Academic Year. They are designed for parents in specific year groups, but open to all. Please click on the link to book. There is a small charge for these sessions.
The homework set for each Year group is now available to download from the school’s website. This will be updated each half term and enables students to continue their learning outside of USH.
This details how the school will respond in the case of severe weather, i.e. Snow Days

PROPOSED YEAR 7 RESIDENTIAL VISITS FOR 2017 During the final week of the summer term, we would like to take the whole of year 7 on an overnight adventure to Tile Barn in the New Forest where the students will sleep in tents and try out a range of outdoor activities such as low ropes, climbing and the tricky crate challenge over the 2 days! The ever popular Paris trip is once again available to all of year 7 with the aim of immersing our students in a new culture, food and language whilst enjoying a visit to one of the world’s most beautiful cities, taking in the Eiffel Tower, Sacre Coeur, the Arc de Triomphe and a full day at EuroDisney, all of which will mean a lot of walking!
In line with Government guidance all Year 9 students will, as part of their studies, have basic sex education focusing on responsibility issues and the development of positive attitudes to relationships.
