Key Stage Three

In Year 7-9 students will study the AQA KS3 Science course.

All students will develop scientific knowledge and conceptual understanding through studying the disciplines of biology, chemistry and physics. Students will also develop understanding of the nature, processes and methods of science through different types of engaging and exciting science enquiries that help them to answer scientific questions about the world around them. As an outcome students become equipped with the scientific knowledge required to understand the uses and implications of science, today and for the future.

Key Stage Four

During Key Stage Four, students will study the AQA Trilogy Combined Science Course or AQA Separate Science Course (Biology, Chemistry, Physics). All students will build upon their KS3 knowledge by developing scientific thinking through a varied use of models to solve problems, make predictions and to develop scientific explanations of familiar and unfamiliar facts.

Students will also develop experimental skills through planning experiments, devising procedures to make observations, testing hypotheses, and checking data to explore phenomena. Using these skills, students will experience a range of engaging required practical tasks. Students will also develop a range of numeracy skills including rearranging equations, orders of magnitude, graph skills and use of significant figures.
