Drama is a creative place where all are challenged to take risks; where we are expected to respectfully work as part of a team and learn to work with different people. The passion of our people helps to develop confidence in our own voice.

Key Stage Three

In Year 7-9, the aim is for students to develop transferable life skills such as team work, perseverance, respect and creativity. The journey of developing these skills will be presented through the outcome of practical tasks and performance. We aim for our students to become creative thinkers who feel safe to take risks.

Key Stage Four

During Key Stage Four, students will develop the skills they need to access the three exam components; Understanding Drama, Devising Drama and Texts in practice for AQA Drama. Students are expected to think creatively to create their own performances, monologues and characters in response to a stimulus.

Students will explore different scripts - the exam set text (Blood Brothers) and others when they perform two monologues from memory. Along with this practical journey, students are required to demonstrate a knowledge and understanding of drama and theatre within their written work. Using analysis and evaluation in both practical and theory is essential to the subject.

Extra-Curricular Opportunities

We offer a school show every other year, Drama club and theatre trips depending on what is on locally. Recently, we have run a whole school production of Matilda and we are currently preparing for our next school show, High School Musical.
